PortalScan™
High-Energy Cargo X-Ray Screening System

The new PortalScan™ is designed to meet the highest X-ray imaging requirements for vehicle and cargo inspection, and, it provides the best of security screening accuracy coupled with advanced engineering quality and U.S. manufacturing excellence.

PortalScan™ Technology Notes
Energy Output 8 MeV (Mega Electron Volts)
Penetration 15.5 inches (400 mm) of steel
Resolution 0.19 inches (5 mm)
Contrast Sensitivity Better than 3%
Dimensions
  • The maximum height of the vehicle being scanned is 14.6 feet (or over 4.4 meters)
  • The maximum length covered includes the tractor cab and 40-foot trailer/container.
  • Adapts to traffic lanes 28 feet (8.5 meters) wide.
  • Foot print occupies space 28 feet (8.5 meters) wide by 80 feet (24.4 meters) long.
Basic Design Fixed system characterized by arch design. A heavy-duty traction motor at the base of each arch electrically propels the arch along an 80-foot parallel track. A 10-degree offset on each arch allows the x-ray scan to examine the front and rear panels of each cargo container, thus giving a complete view of the top, bottom, sides and end panels.
Environmental Operating Temperature: -22°F to 122°F (-30°C to +50°C)
Remote Control Screening Operator's station may be positioned next to foot print or at site's security complex.
Safety
  • Meets applicable radiation safety regulations.
  • Emergency stop buttons located at the operator console and at points within the footprint.
  • Radiation dosage to cargo is less than 0.015 µSv per scan
Power Three phase 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz
Options Radiation detection
Image Analysis
  • Supports 16 x 9 ratio wide-screen format for viewing and analyzing rectangular cargo container shapes and images.
  • Imaging tools include edge-enhancement, contrast stretching, and pseudo-color pallets.
  • Microsoft® Windows® based imaging software.
  • Storage of over 20,000 images.
Warranty One year on parts and labor; extended warranty available.
